यी शिक्षापदहरूको पालन श्रामणेर र श्रामणेरीहरूले गर्छन्। अष्टशीलको मनोरञ्जनसम्बन्धी शिक्षापदलाई दुई भागमा छुट्याएर र धनको लेनदेन निषेध गर्ने एउटा नियम थपेर यी तयार भएका हुन्।
These training rules are observed by novice monks and nuns. They are derived from the Eight Precepts by splitting the precept concerning entertainments into two parts and by adding one rule prohibiting the handling of money.
पूर्ण उपसम्पदा प्राप्त भिक्षुले भिक्षु-पातिमोक्खका २२७ नियम पालन गर्छन्; पूर्ण उपसम्पदा प्राप्त भिक्षुणीले भिक्षुणी-पातिमोक्खका ३११ नियम पालन गर्नुपर्छ।
A fully-ordained monk (bhikkhu) observes the 227 rules of the bhikkhu Patimokkha; a fully ordained nun (bhikkhuni) would observe the 311 rules of the bhikkhuni Patimokkha.
दशशील:
१. पाणातिपाता वेरमणी सिक्खापदं समादियामि
1. Panatipata veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami
म प्राणीको प्राण नलिने शिक्षापद ग्रहण गर्छु।
I undertake the precept to refrain from destroying living creatures.
२. अदिन्नादाना वेरमणी सिक्खापदं समादियामि
2. Adinnadana veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami
म नदिएको वस्तु नलिने शिक्षापद ग्रहण गर्छु।
I undertake the precept to refrain from taking that which is not given.
३. अब्रह्मचरिया वेरमणी सिक्खापदं समादियामि
3. Abrahmacariya veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami
म यौनक्रियाबाट विरत रहने शिक्षापद ग्रहण गर्छु।
I undertake the precept to refrain from sexual activity.
४. मुसावादा वेरमणी सिक्खापदं समादियामि
4. Musavada veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami
म असत्य वचनबाट विरत रहने शिक्षापद ग्रहण गर्छु।
I undertake the precept to refrain from incorrect speech.
५. सुरामेरयमज्जपमादट्ठाना वेरमणी सिक्खापदं समादियामि
5. Suramerayamajja pamadatthana veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami
म प्रमाद निम्त्याउने मदिरा र मादक पदार्थबाट विरत रहने शिक्षापद ग्रहण गर्छु।
I undertake the precept to refrain from intoxicating drinks and drugs which lead to carelessness.
६. विकालभोजना वेरमणी सिक्खापदं समादियामि
6. Vikalabhojana veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami
म निषिद्ध समयमा (अर्थात् मध्याह्नपछि) भोजन नगर्ने शिक्षापद ग्रहण गर्छु।
I undertake the precept to refrain from eating at the forbidden time (i.e., after noon).
७. नच्चगीतवादितविसूकदस्सना वेरमणी सिक्खापदं समादियामि
7. Nacca-gita-vadita-visuka-dassana veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami
म नाच, गीत, वाद्यवादन र मनोरञ्जन हेर्न जाने कार्यबाट विरत रहने शिक्षापद ग्रहण गर्छु।
I undertake the precept to refrain from dancing,singing, music, going to see entertainments.
८. मालागन्धविलेपनधारणमण्डनविभूसनट्ठाना वेरमणी सिक्खापदं समादियामि
8. Mala-gandha-vilepana-dharana-mandana-vibhusanatthana veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami
म माला लगाउने, सुगन्ध प्रयोग गर्ने र प्रसाधनले शरीर सिँगार्ने कार्यबाट विरत रहने शिक्षापद ग्रहण गर्छु।
I undertake the precept to refrain from wearing garlands, using perfumes, and beautifying the body with cosmetics.
९. उच्चासयनमहासयना वेरमणी सिक्खापदं समादियामि
9. Uccasayana-mahasayana veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami
म अग्लो वा विलासपूर्ण शय्यामा नसुत्ने शिक्षापद ग्रहण गर्छु।
I undertake the precept to refrain from lying on a high or luxurious sleeping place.
१०. जातरूपरजतपटिग्गहणा वेरमणी सिक्खापदं समादियामि
10. Jatarupa-rajata-patiggahana veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami
म सुन र चाँदी (धन) स्वीकार नगर्ने शिक्षापद ग्रहण गर्छु।
I undertake the precept to refrain from accepting gold and silver (money).
